Mother’s Day Card Crafts for Kids to Make

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I‘m sure lots of kids are looking and digging for ideas to make something special and make their mama’s day more special.

Well, I might have just what you need…

Mother’s Day Flower Pot Card

Mother’s Day Flower Pot CardMaterials you’ll need:

  • A flower pot template
  • Purple, red or pink paper (or you could also opt for cardstock) (mine was around 8.5” x 11”)
  • White Cardstock (mine was around 8.5” x 11)
  • Green craft sticks
  • Kraft paper cardstock paper (mine was around 8.5” x 11)
  • A Hole punch
  • Elmer’s extra strength glue stick (or you could also opt for Tacky Glue)
  • A pair of scissors
  • Markers
  • 3/8″ Ribbon

Instructions on how to make the Mother’s Day Flower Pot Card:

Step 1:

Start by downloading the flower pot craft template. Then, proceed by printing out the flower pot part of the template on a brown Kraft cardstock and printing the flower petal parts on another paper (most preferably pink, purple or red). Then, print out a Mother’s Day card tag on some white cardstock.

Step 2:

Each template should be cut out properly.

Step 3:

To create the card, the flower pot template should be folded in half, right along the edge between the pots.

Step 4:

Then, stick the “Happy Mother’s Day” tag on the front of the flower pot card.

Step 5:

With the help of a punch hole, make a hole on each side of the flower pot rim so as you can add a ribbon (more information on this step will be provided a bit later).

Step 6:

From all the flower petals, fold six of them in half (like you did at the start) and leave three of them unfolded.

Step 7:

Place some glue on the sides of one of your unfolded flower petals and add glue to two folded petals on the flower with the folds facing towards each other. In order to create two more tulip flowers, you’ll have to repeat the same step.

Step 8:

Add glue to the top of the green craft and stick the tulip flowers to them.

Side note: If you don’t have any pre-painted craft sticks, I suggest painting some simple wood craft sticks with green color.

Step 9:

After opening the flower pot card, place some more glue on the back of the green craft sticks and stick them at the top of the card, so the stems are down inside the flower pot.

Step 10:

Now is the time to leave a personal message or a poem or a famous heart-touching quote for your mother on the bottom of the flower pot card.

Step 11:

After closing the flower pot card, take a section of ribbon about 26-inches long and thread it through the two holes you made previously at the top of the flower pot. Try to close the front of the flower pot card with a nice bow.

Turtle-themed Mother’s Day Card

Turtle-themed Mother’s Day CardInstructions on how to make the Turtle-themed Mother’s Day Card:

Step 1:

First and foremost, you should have two different sized green cupcake liners (I’ve opted for green, but you could also choose to go for pink turtles, red turtles or blue turtles –let the imagination flow). And, these are easily available in the baking section of local craft stores.

Step 2:

Once you have flattened out the cupcake liners, fold them in half and place some glue on the inside. Then, stick the folded liners onto the card surface. Now, you have the turtle shells ready.

Step 3:

To create the heads and feet of the turtles, take a yellow cardstock and snip these shapes out of it.

Step 4:

Stick the yellow feet and heads right on the turtle shells and with a marker, you can write, “Mom, I love you,” or “Mom, you are the best!”
